This small-group leadership development program, sponsored by Staples, is targeted to youth ages 11 to 13. Torch Clubs promote positive self-esteem and personal growth, build listening and speaking skills, reinforce academic achievement and encourage the development of conscientious citizens.
Within some 1,400 Torch Clubs across the country, members elect officers and plan and implement their own activities and community service projects. Each Torch Club receives an official charter from Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Additionally over the years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Staples Foundation for Learning have recognized and awarded scholarships and financial contributions to deserving Clubs and Club members, including the prestigious annual National Service Project Award, which recognizes youth-led community service efforts.
