Healthy Lifestyles

Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County values a Healthy Lifestyle and diligently promotes the adoption of good nutrition, the practice of healthy lifestyle choices and making a lifelong commitment to fitness. Plus, our Clubs provide a safe-haven where young bodies find room to move and food to eat. Whether through daily recreation, health and life skills programs, or year-round sports leagues (soccer, football, basketball and girls' volleyball), members are able to tap into their inner athlete.

A dual focus, the Clubs also recognize the importance of nutrition on a child's ability to think and function. As a benefit of Club membership, we provide a healthy meal/snack every day to all kids. For years, the BE GREAT: Eat Great - a nutrition and cooking program geared toward middle school aged kids, has been teaching members how to make nutritious meals, providing ingredients and encouraging kids to take their lessons home to share with their entire family.

Highlights:
- Throughout 2013, approx. 150,000 meals/snacks were served at our three Clubs combined.
- 150 members have graduated from the BE GREAT: Eat Great nutrition program.
- Our Club sports league costs just $25 to participate (similar programs in the community cost approx. $100+).
